The number of reports and various article about 3D Printing and additive manufacturing (AM) may give the impression that AM Technology is firmly established in MedTech Companies. Current research shows that this is not the case.

In 3 SHORT LESSONS you can learn more about adopting AM Technology, challenges for MedTech Companies and how to overcome barriers.

LESSON 1

↪ 3D Printing versus Additive Manufacturing

In distinction to existing manufacturing technology and processes where usually material is removed from a workpiece, both methods apply products will be created by adding of material.

3D Printing and AM are used as synonymous for the manufacturing process.

↪ The difference between 3D Printing and AM

AM refers to a manufacturing process that creates an object by adding material. 3D printing is a manufacturing process that creates an object by adding material layer by layer. That means 3D Printing is a form of AM.

Both methods typically require the use of a machine as well as CAD software.

In LESSON 2 you can learn more about major barriers of adopting AM Technology for MedTech Companies.
